East Palace, West Palace (1996)

Summary: A park in the midst of Beijing, surrounded by old palaces, is frequently searched by the local police as it is one of the secret meeting places for the local gay scene. The young writer A Lan on several occasions runs into policeman Xiao Shi who ends up arresting the young man one evening and takes him to the park’s police station. After one intense night of interrogation which turns into A Lan telling the story of his past, Xiao Shi finds himself wondering whether his arrest of A Lan had other motives than he initially thought. This movie was forbidden by chinese authorities for its open depiction of homosexuality in Mainland China when it first came out and director Yuan Zhang was arrested for a short time and his passport taken away from him temporarily.          Summary: Xiao Bo comes from a moderate, middle class family but has decided to make his living as a male hustler. His actions influences his older brother, Dabin, a devout Christian, who becomes an evangelist to reform China’s entire hustler population. When the two brothers clash Xiao Bo disappears into the streets. As Dabin searches for his brother he meets, befriends and tries to convert many working hustler boys. Soundless Wind Chime (2009)

           Summary: ”Soundless Wind Chime” centers around a new immigrant to Hong Kong from China, Ricky, who works as a delivery boy while living with his prostitute aunt. He is pickpocketed by a Swiss thief, Pascal who is in an abusive relationship with his con artist boyfriend. Deciding to leave him, Pascal has a chance encounter with Ricky and the two begin a romantic relationship. The couple struggles through good times and bad, forcing them to determine if their relationship is based on love or dependence on one another. Several years later, Ricky searches Switzerland for signs of Pascal, eventually encountering Ueli (also played by Bulling), a timid antique store owner who looks the same as Pascal, but who has a vastly different personality.
